Trees Rock Video Contest

The SCOTTIES® TREES ROCK! Video Contest was designed to energize kids to get creative and share why they think trees are an important part of our school community and why planting them is beneficial for everyone.

Who: This contest is open to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.

Prizes: The winning school will receive $10,000 for an outdoor school project, and the winning student's family will receive a trip to The Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park, $5,000 and an Electronic Tablet.

When: Video submissions were due  Nov. 30, 2012.  Judges selected the top 12 finalists for a national online public vote.  Supporters are encouraged to vote every day. Voting ends on Feb 15, 2013.

Carmel Green Initiative has partnered with Sierra Club and other organizations to present the Renewable Energy Forum.

Join the discussion of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and the role each should play in Indiana's energy future.

The Forum will open with expert insight from a panel of renewable energy professionals:
- Phil Teague, Rectify LLC Solar 
- Sasha Clements and Jason Monroe, Tipmont Solar Garden
- Jeff Cole, Johnson Melloh Solutions, Inc.
- Ray Wilson, Energy Efficiency in Congregations
- Bruce E. Breeden, Ed. S., Telamon

Following the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow members of the Indianapolis community.

Bring an unwanted costume or costume accessory and SWAP it for another one. This is a great way to reuse costumes that no longer fit and save money at the same time
Please note the following

•  Please only bring costumes that are clean and in good condition.
•  Any make-up/face paint donated must be sealed or unused.
•  If you are unable to find a re-used costume you would like to swap
for, you may donate your costume or reclaim your original
costume- if it has not already been claimed by someone else.
•  Feel free to donate costumes without swapping

Anything With A Plug - Community eWaste Recycling Drive

Mark your calendar for America Recycles Day and responsibly dispose of your old electronic devices. Clean out your house, garage and basement without adding junk and toxins to our landfills. Anything with a plug will be accepted.

Items you may bring include: appliances, computers, TVs, electronics, bicycles, batteries, lawn mowers, cassette and video tapes, cell phones and more. No paint or any household hazardous waste please. $5 fee for mattresses, tube TVs and tube monitors. For a full list, visit

Used books will also be collected and donated to a local non-profit agency.
