2025 EARTH DAY ART CONTEST

Let our children inspire you to live more sustainably.   Doing something simple can be a powerful way to show you care about protecting the future for young people.

Artwork by
Avery P. 7th grade, Clay Middle School Green Team

Thanks to youth for their amazing artwork! 283 youth from Kindergarten through Middle School from 30 schools, after school programs, scout troops, green teams and congregations submitted eco-friendly artwork for the 13th annual Earth Hour—Earth Day Art Contest. Youth learn about energy conservation and environmental stewardship through art to encourage energy savings and sustainable living at home, schools, congregations, and businesses.  More than 5,400 youth have participated since we started the program in 2010.

Many thanks to the teachers, parents, green team, girl scout troop and religious youth leaders who worked with our young people on this important environmental education program.

Congratulations to the 2025 Earth Day art contest winners! Luna Deye (Kindergarten), Ayaana Saini (1st Gr), Hazel Bancroft (2nd), Pravindi Dharmarathne (3rd), Hunter Kramarz (4th), Shiloh Spring (5th), Aria Williamson (6th), Genevieve Spicer (7th), Simone Downer (digital art), Summer Hurm (Facebook favorite) and Hannah Holtsclaw (Solential award). We hope you’re inspired by their art and moved by their profound environmental messages!

This community education program draws on the energy conservation message of Earth Hour and the earth stewardship message of Earth Day to emphasize the important connection between saving energy, saving money and caring for our beautiful blue planet. We incorporate environmental educational content from E.P.A. Energy Star Schools to inspire youth to save energy through simple actions such as turning off lights, the TV, the computer and other electronics when leaving the room.

Indiana gets almost all of its electricity from coal, the greatest source of air, water and global warming pollution. For Hoosiers, saving electricity is one of the easiest ways to save money and be good stewards of the earth.  In addition, there are many ways to live more sustainably!

2025 ART CONTEST WINNERS!

These winners were selected by a panel of judges
for their environmental message and art!

“When people see my artwork, I want them to notice
how important clean water is to Earth’s fish.
Saving energy and protecting the planet are important
because the Earth needs our help every day.”

Luna D.

“Mother Earth provides us so many things like food,
water and air. It is our duty to keep it happy and
healthy by planting trees and saving water and energy…
We need a healthy planet for everyone.”

Ayaana S.

“My artwork, “Bike to school, Save the Earth,” is inspired
by green energy and environment friendly transportation.
I wanted to make people learn that we can minimize our energy usage
by riding bicycles and walking to school or work.”

Pravindi D.

The name of my artwork is Save the Earth, inspired by
climate change and how the earth will transform over time.
When I created my artwork, I was thinking we determine
the future of our earth.  I want people to notice
there are two sides that could happen and we,
as people, need to make the right choices because we live here.”

Hunter K.

“My artwork was inspired by the California wildfires.
I hope people get inspired by my art and do something good for the environment.  I want them to notice that my art isn’t perfect. I’m just a kid doing some things that I love to do: art and spreading awareness for the Earth. Our planet started out beautiful, so we have to keep it beautiful.”

Shiloh S.

“Save the Bees was inspired by how bees help the environment
and pollinate flowers.  I hope people notice that bees are
an important part of the ecosystem.
There isn’t another known planet with

the same things Earth has.”

Aria W.

“The name of my artwork is the Rainbow of Green
and was inspired by my family being eco-friendly and
my Mamma’s love for gardening.  When I created my masterpiece,
I was thinking about our garden beds, and how we have one
that is just for compost.  When people see my artwork, I hope they notice
the rainbow of words describing all things green.
I believe saving energy and protecting the planet
are important because of our well-being, the wildlife,
and what the world will become one day.”

Genevieve S.

Earth Hour is a global event. People across the planet come together
to turn off lights on pollution for one hour. It shows that by
working together, each of us can make a positive impact
in addressing climate change, conserving energy
and protecting the planet. To celebrate Earth Hour, we posted 19 artworks about saving energy on Facebook as a fun way to inspire more families. Together, they got 6854 views!

And the Facebook Favorite with the most likes is Summer H.

“I love to draw in Procreate.  I used a goose in my drawing
because I like geese. I made the message about solar panels because
we have solar panels at home and I think Carmel Clay Schools
should have solar panels to use more clean energy.”

Simone D.

“The name of my artwork is ‘Rounding About a Cleaner Carmel.’
It was inspired by how we can help the Earth
in our normal day lives in Carmel. For example,
we can use energy from solar panels
to power our homes and communities.

I hope people notice the many ways Carmel is
already helping the Earth. The solar panel park helps save
money by using clean energy from the sun.
The Flowing Well Park allows Carmel families
to get clean water and use less plastic water bottles.
Central Park is a great spot for families to enjoy nature
and its beauty.  Prairie View is home to a bald eagle family
that was endangered and now is not.

We only have one earth and we have to treat it well.”
