Janet will share insights on recent federal policy changes and their implications. Solar Schools Save Tax Dollars
Carmel Clay Schools have a long history of leveraging energy efficiency to manage utility costs. But these costs are expected to increase even more due to the rapid expansion of data centers. As you might know, Duke just got approved for a $244 million rate increase to keep their old, inefficient coal plants running, and recently filed for an additional $3.3 billion to build a new gas plant. Plus, bills passed earlier this year give Duke automatic pass-through rate hikes for small nuclear reactors, SMRs. Solar provides the extra layer of protection against monopoly utility rate hikes, and it protects our property tax dollars as well as our students’ future. Carmel Utilities, Carmel library, as well as schools in Fishers, Noblesville and Sheridan have invested in solar. If you support solar for Carmel schools, please take the survey.

In general, the big sources of carbon emissions for the typical household and business are electricity, transportation and CAFO beef.
