Extreme Weather Trends
Recent extreme weather in Carmel is the tornado that hit in April damaging trees, homes and businesses! On Wed. Nov. 5 at Noon, join IU Environmental Resilience Institute webinar to learn about how climate change is affecting Indiana communities and state interests. NOAA shows that every region of the country has experienced a significant increase in billion-dollar disasters, with more severe storms and floods in Indiana. Learn more and register.
Spirit and Place
The 2025 theme for the IU Spirit & Place Festival is NATURE. The festival runs from Nov. 6-16 including events independently created and hosted by the community Learn more.
Katharine Hayhoe
You don’t want to miss this! On Thurs. Nov. 6 at 6 pm, join IU Spirit and Place Festival to hear keynote speaker Katharine Hayhoe—Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy, evangelical Christian, and author of Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World. Are you grieving ecological losses?
This is a great opportunity for self-care and healing! On Sat. Nov. 8 at 1 pm, join Spirit and Place: Nature & Ritual to take a guided forest therapy walk, culminating in a community art ritual to celebrate nature and acknowledge ecological losses. Electronics Recycling Plus
Sat. Nov. 8, 10-1 p.m.
Creekside Middle School, Carmel
This community event includes electronics recycling, document shredding, as well as bulk item drop-off. $5 requested donation per shredding box. $20 fee per TV and computer monitor. Read more for allowed and prohibited items.

Make sustainability your top priority. Everything we do impacts our earth in some way. Change habits that will lessen your impact on our shared home. We can do this together! Here’s how to calculate your household carbon footprint and some easy ways to go green. In general, the big sources of carbon emissions for the typical household and business are electricity, transportation and CAFO beef.
